Public Allies Delaware

Mission

Our mission is to create a just and equitable society and the diverse leadership to sustain it. We are changing the face and practice of leadership in communities across the country by demonstrating our conviction that everyone can lead, and that lasting social change results when citizens of all backgrounds step up, take responsibility, and work together.

Vision

Our vision is a more perfect Union that includes all of us.

Values

We believe leadership is about practicing values, and at Public Allies we practice six core values:

COLLABORATION - We believe in the strength of the collective and doing better together. We facilitate, negotiate, build consensus, and empower each other to define and achieve common goals.

CONTINUOUS LEARNING - We believe individuals and institutions must relentlessly seek new information and bold ways to apply that learning.

DIVERSITY & INCLUSION - We believe leadership is best when reflective of our diverse communities. We listen, learn and work effectively across differences in order to build the common good.

FOCUS ON ASSETS - We believe all people and communities are full of promise and potential. We recognize and catalyze the strengths and natural leadership of everyone in order to build momentum for social change.

INNOVATION - We believe in responding to the convergence of demographic, political, and social shifts by acting in creative ways that generate new solutions and deepen impact.

INTEGRITY - We believe leaders meet their commitments, act responsibly with the public and personal trust, and are accountable delivering what they promise.

Our Logo

The Public Allies logo draws on Native American tradition to make a point about the impact individuals can have on their world. The handprint used in the logo represents the mark that people leave on their communities and on the people they touch in the course of their lives. The red swirl stands for the energy and idealism that drive people to serve their communities. The seven rays refer to a philosophy regarding the interconnectedness of the generations--the belief that an individual living today has been influenced by the three preceding generations, and will go on to leave a legacy affecting the three generations to follow.
