The Organizational & Community Leadership major is interactive: classes provide ample opportunity for participation and the practice of leadership skills and processes. Organizational & CommunityLeadership faculty are equally concerned with our students’ academic growth and their personal development as individuals who care about improving the human condition. Therefore, the program of study is broadly based, with emphases upon academic knowledge and theory, personal growth, and skill development. Organizational & Community Leadership majors take courses in the humanities, social sciences, statistics and mathematics, business, and communication. Leadership skills are integrated throughout the curriculum. The requirements for both the major and the minor in Leadership are found in the UD catalog.
"One of my favorite aspects of the leadership major at the University of Delaware is that I have the opportunity to personalize my education because I can take classes in such a wide variety of fields. Through the Leadership major I have had the opportunity to take classes ranging from Photography to Computer Science to Entrepreneurship and Small Business Management, which I think will really increase my marketability and options in the job market," says Dave Strube, a senior in the Leadership major.
Classes in the Leadership major focus on innovation, motivation, communication, decision-making and many other dynamic topics. The major also offers topics classes that change on a semester basis. These classes provide students with an opportunity to take classes that are constantly evolving to tackle pertinent issues in both the public and private arenas
"What I love about the classes in the leadership major is that the information they teach is enduring and diverse. Instead of memorizing information, models and statistics, we learn theories, concepts and methodologies that will allow me to apply the information I learn in a practical fashion through out my personal and professional life."
-Kristin Peleckis, senior Leadership major
