Organizational and Community Leadership Advisement
Being a leader in today's rapidly changing society requires content knowledge as well as self-knowledge and awareness. As an Organizational & Community Leadership major, you will develop your ability to mobilize ethical, socially responsible and sustainable changes that improve the quality of our lives and environments.
The Organizational & Community Leadership major creates a close knit nurturing environment in which students can interact on a personal level with students and teachers alike. Liz Huegelmeyer, a senior leadership major says, "When in my classes I feel comfortable to ask questions and know that I will get the personalized attention that I need. There is a real sense of community in the leadership major. The people I see everyday in my classes are not just my classmates, but my friends."
The Organization & Community Leadership major prepares students to become leaders on campus, in the community, and in their professions. Through coursework, retreats, and self-study, participants learn the theories of leadership, experience the challenge of leading others, and create a sense of community with each other and members of participating organizations.
"Throughout my experience in the Leadership major I have learned that leaders come in all shapes and size. I have learned that being a leaders does not require me to have a certain position or role, but that being a leader is a decision and commitment that I make to my self and the environment I am in to give my all and to make a difference!"
-Senior Leadership Major, Katie McCarthy
